James grew up in Sandusky, Ohio and spent much of his childhood on Lake Erie. His parents worked in oncology and hospice care which was an early source of inspiration to become a physician and improve the lives of cancer patients. He graduated with honors research distinction from the Ohio State University in Spring 2020. After graduation, he worked for a year as a COVID-19 contact tracer through the university. He is a current medical student in the Larner College of Medicine at the University of Vermont where he led the college's dermatology and plastic surgery student interest groups in his first year. He is an elected wellness committee representative in the college. Outside of research and school, he spends his time trying new foods, enjoying electronic music, and getting out on the water.
He joins our lab with past research experience in plastic surgery, dermatology, and physician well-being. He is excited to be a member of this multidisciplinary research team to further our understanding of lymphatic anatomy, lymphedema, and lymphatic surgery outcomes.
